From Pitchfork
One for the strange-but-true bin: Yesterday afternoon, T.I. helped talk a 24-year-old man down from committing suicide by jumping off a 22-story building in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Turns out the man was on top of the same building that housed a radio show hosted by Ryan Cameron on hip-hop station V-103. T.I. heard about the situation, called Cameron, drove to the scene, and then recorded a video message to the man which the police played for him on the roof. Apparently, the video encouraged the man to come down from the ledge, and T.I. spoke with him for five minutes afterward.
Some may point out the incredible timing of this happening: T.I. has an important court hearing on Friday that will determine if his recent drug arrest will revoke his probation. According to the Journal-Constitution, the rapper told Cameron, "I'm not taking any credit. I didn't wake up this morning with the intentions of going down and helping hostage negotiators talk someone down off a ledge. I don't expect this to have any different impact on any of my circumstances. That wasn't my motivation."
